Tips To Gain Healthy Weight

While most people who are overweight are always complaining about how difficult it is to lose weight, people who are underweight find it equally tough to put on weight. Those who are skinny and looking to put on weight should not overdo things. Instead, they should be looking for ways to gain healthy weight.

Remember, just like losing weight does not happen overnight, gain weight too takes time and perseverance. There are many ways to gain weight in a healthy manner and one can also ensure that this weight is maintained. Before starting out to gain weight, you should get a thorough medical check up done to rule out any underlying health problem that is affecting your weight. If there is no health issue, then you just have a high metabolism rate. If this is the case, get in touch with a nutritionist to chart out a diet plan for yourself.
It is important that you know the amount of calories you should be consuming each meal in order to gain weight. Once you know the daily calorie intake, you can check with the nutritionist what are the foods that will give you those calories. Thereafter, you should stick to just those foods. Also, remember, once you have the calorie intake, it is important to increase the calories on a day basis by 200 calories to ensure that you gain the required weight.
In order to gain weight, it is not necessary that you have to eat unhealthily. Many people, who are thin and skinny, think that by eating junk food, they will gain weight. However, this notion is wrong. It will do your body more harm than good. Eating unhealthily will make you feel lethargic, sluggish and adversely affect your metabolism. Instead, you should be looking to consume a balanced diet comprising of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins as well as minerals.
Remember, your protein intake should be high. This is especially true for men who are looking to build up their muscle mass. Healthy weight gain actually takes place with muscle mass and not fat. While fat will increase your weight, this weight will not be healthy and you will end up with fat deposits in the wrong places.
In addition, ensure that you drink ample water to flush out all the toxins. Drinking water will keep your skin elastic and this will help when you gain weight as your skin will not show any stretch marks.
Exercise is equally important for gaining weight. Many people think by doing cardio, they will gain weight. However, cardio is good for keeping fit. If you are looking to gain weight, you should be concentrating on lifting weights. Look for a trained instructor to teach you how to lift weights correctly and what weight you should be lifting. The instructor will also chart out an exercise plan for you which should be followed diligently.
Finally, make sure that you get adequate amount of sleep in the night. A minimum of eight hours is required for your body to regulate the metabolism and facilitate weight gain. If you do not sleep enough, the following day you will feel irritable, fatigued and sluggish. This will cause you to eat the wrong food and ruin all the hard work you have been doing so long.
